QuinLED Resistor Switcher

During the 2022 revision updates of the QuinLED Dig-Uno, Dig-Quad and on the initial version of the Dig-Octa and Data-Booster a resistor switcher functionality was added to the boards. These resistor-switchers allow you to switch between a 249R and 33R output resistor, this helps adapt the data signal to the type of cabling being used.

As a short TL;DR (see full article here):

  • 249R mode (default) works best with separated data wires
  • 33R mode (set switch) works best with bundled data wires where data+GND is running closely together
    • This mode is now the best method to get data wires to reach long lengths

Switch location

On the Dig-Uno and Dig-Quad the switches are located beneath the ESP32 so you will have to remove to switch the mode it’s in. On the Dig-Octa and Data-booster the switches have their own location on the board.

Orange film

When the delivered the resistor-switchers are still covered by an orange film. You can either move the switches through the film or remove the film and then change the switch setting.
