QuinLED Diff-Adv Terminator Plug

Back to QuinLED Diff-Adv main page

One of the design decisions during the development of the QuinLED Diff-Adv was to use an External Termination plug, after a few meters, having this terminal plug in place is mandatory for the system to work correctly.

What the plug does technically is add a 120Ω resistor between the A and B RS485 per pair (there are 4 running over the UTP cable) and thus completing the circuit with the counterpart resistor that’s on the sender boards. You can find the pinout of the cables here.

The reason for this is the midpoint functionality the Diff-Adv system has where each of the boards in the chain can choose which channel to output, even if you want to output the same channel to multiple LED strips/strings. This would not be possible without the separate pluggable termination plug.

No worries, when buying a Diff-Adv Sender-4 board it comes with the terminator plug included! We will also have them as a separate item in the WorldWide store.

And that’s it, just make sure the last board in the chain has the terminator plug in it’s “out” RJ45 socket and all should be good!
