Dig-Next-2
I²C port & QExpansion port
This page will go over the extra ports that are included on the Dig-Next-2 controller providing expansion options beyond the features included on the controller PCB itself!
For the pinout of the ports please see the pinout guide.
I²C port
The I²C port is present in the form of a Stemma QT/QWIIC I²C port which takes JST SH – 1.0mm cables, links to such cables can be found here. This allows the connection of a lot of I2C boards that are available to buy which have sensors, buttons or other functions! Please read the I²C expansion guide but the most important thing to remember is that next to having the hardware there also needs to be software support for the module you are trying to use.
For example hardware, please take a look at this article!
Since the I²C port is really just 3V3, GND and 2x GPIO pins it can potentially also be used for different purposes!
QExpansion port
The QExpansion port is another port on the board (cable included) which provides a breakout of 3V3, GND and 4x GPIO to again enable expanding the controller with whatever hardware you might want to use! As with the I²C port, make sure whatever you are connecting is also compatible with the software you are running on the controller!

The QEXP breakout cable comes included with the board!
